Why should I get a survey?
Vessel surveys are much like a home inspection for a house. It is important that you know exactly what you are getting when you purchase a vessel. A good marine surveyor will provide you with a complete picture of the vessel’s systems, provide you with a fair market value for the vessel using several different sources and provide an unbiased snapshot of the actual condition of the vessel. His or her report is drafted for the client, not for any other parties unless the client expressly requests so.
What is a Marine Surveyor?
A Marine surveyor (including "Yacht & Small Craft Surveyor") is a person who conducts inspections, surveys, or examinations of marine vessels to assess, monitor, and report on their condition. Marine surveyors also inspect equipment intended for new or existing vessels to ensure compliance with various standards or specifications. Marine surveys typically include the structure, machinery, equipment (navigational, safety, radio, etc.), and general condition of a vessel. It also includes an assessment of the condition of materials on board.
How much does a Marine Survey Cost?
The cost of a marine survey varies with the type of boat, size, age, and location of the vessel, as well as the type of survey requested. Investing in a professional marine survey can potentially save the client a much larger repair or maintenance cost later on and can lead to the reduction of purchase price.
Complimentary quotes will be provided to clients upon request.
